I've got the 'quat!

I FINALLY had a kumquat margarita. After all of the searching and googling kumquats, I attained kumquats at Cub. They're finally back in season. I had no idea what I was looking for, but my great friends helped me to find them! The kumquat is a very small orange-like thing. It's unbelievable to think that while my drinking challenge, I've learned so much. Haha!

It wasn't the greatest margarita, but I was so glad to finally do it.

98 margaritas down! 3 more to go!

I drank a long awaited margarita, the Rose Margarita, using the Patron that I infused with Pomegranate seeds. It was amazing!!! My friends, Keith, Mike, and I shared a shakerful of the Rose Margarita. Mixed with Grand Marnier, simple syrup, and lemon juice, it can only be described as heaven. It was a pink and sweet and got me just tipsy enough to go right to sleep.

Good Night!

Only 4 margaritas left!

Sunday Night

Number 96 was the Kentucky Margarita using Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey! Bring on the Jim Beam. I made some Bourbon Margaritas for a group of my favorite brewers at the backyard Oyster Throw-down. I also tried an oyster for the first time! Yikes!

Most people liked the margarita, even though it had a very different flavor.

Cheers until tomorrow!

Saturday Night

The 95th margarita was the Cognac Margarita. It was described as “boozy,” yet given a 7 out of 10 of the experience drinker and master-brewer, Matt Hall. I yet again, bought the good stuff. I had Matt assist me in purchasing liquor for the next few margaritas. We bought some top shelf cognac and bourbon.

There's a picture of me shaking and checkin' out the courvoisier! I was able to share this recipe and share experiences of others with a bunch of great, new friends!

My friends are the best and are going to rockstar this thang!

Friday Night

Several friends got together for the last of the few margarita-fests. Tonight, we enjoyed the delicious coffee margaritas. The Margarita du Cafe and the Frozen Mocha-rita. If you like coffee drinks, you'd love, love, love these two recipes. With a shot or two of espresso, it will be a wonder if I ever get to sleep. The ingredients consist of espresso, tequila, Kahlua and cream. Many belived that you just can't go wrong! We sat on the deck in hometown Stillwater enjoying drink and friends. Another wonderful summer Friday night. The coffee drinks and appetizers were just the ride mood set for a blissful evening. I had so much fun that I took out the camera and set it right next to the tequila, but I never snapped one photo!

And now onto the good new! I was told Kumquats are BACK in season. I received some from a friend, so I am back to doing 100 margaritas!!! Now, I am awaiting some news about receiving a cherimoya from California. If I can attain that by next week, then I will successfully make all 101 margaritas!

Cheers until tomorrow!

94 margaritas down... You do the math!

3 in 24

Have you ever heard of the "2 in 24" club? I was watching this show and that is when you sleep with 2 people in 24-hours. I, however, have an entirely different meaning. It only means 3 margarita recipes in 24-hours. What did you think I was going to say??

Tonight, I enjoyed three, whole margaritas. I made the Southern Margarita, the Passionfruit Margarita, and the Berry Passionate Margarita. We go from Southern Comfort to Alize Wild Passionfruit Liqueur. The Wild Passionfruit liqueur is a pretty, pink bottle that I've always admired, but never bought or took a second look at, until now!

All three recipes were really good. My favorite of the three was the Berry Passionate Margarita with the yummy liqueur. My mother, for the first time, requested me to make her another one of the Southern Margaritas. I didn't know she liked southern comfort, but I guess you learn a lot when you're drinking with family.

I have had 92 margarita recipes, with only 7 left to go! I have the next few scheduled on my calendar. Cheers for now!

I'm going bananas!

The blended banana margarita is not my favorite. It was difficult enough to find banana schnapps, and then to use it in a beverage such as this, meh. I could do without. At least I can say that I've tried it and move on. I do like fruity drinks and certain fruits, however, bananas specifically are not a favored flavor for cocktails. I like much more sweet ones!

That makes 89 margaritas down, and 10 more to go! ONLY TEN MORE! I hit single digits tomorrow

11 more to go

Hello Everyone,

A beautiful day for family, fun, and goofin' around. Someone told that Tom has made my blog several times, but my response was simple. He enjoys drinking!

We shared a blender-full of Orange Mint Margaritas. He likes mojitos, so he really enjoyed the mint. It was just ok in my opinion.

I didn't know

NEXT!!!!

The Golden Cadillac Margarita... I didn't know that there was a liqueur that tasted like licorice. I LOVE licorice. I'm not sure on this Galliano stuff! It's a very cool bottle however! I mean, LOOK!!!

Umm, yeah, seriously I don't know how to describe this beverage. It's yellow, almost bitter, and smells. Hmmm, I guess I don't like it. It's not stopping me, however, from drinking the rest of the sample!

Cheers for now!

Have you ever wondered???

Have you ever had an ice, cold cup of milk and wondered if it would taste good with some schnapps in it? Yeah, well... not so much. If it was a last resort, I could drink a ton of these, but the Cinnamon Margarita, not a favorite. It is a spin-off of last Saturday night's Blonde Margarita; which consisted of vanilla schnapps, cream, and tequila, only this time adds Cinnamon schnapps. Anyone need a bottle of Cinnamon schnapps?? I can't complain all that much, however, I have some time to enjoy all to myself, a few cocktails ahead, and my "margarita mix playlist" on the stereo!

Happy Friday!

My goal for tonight, is to knock a few margs out of the way and pay some bills. That ought to be entertaining!

How many is that now??

Hot'n'Cold

My good friend, Margaret, and I shared margaritas and a movie tonight. We watched "The Proposal" and drank some very yummy margaritas. We had the Mulled Margarita and the Spiced Apple Margarita. The mulled margarita was a hot cider-like marg. We boiled apple cider, cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, and fresh apples to make a hot mulled cider, then added tequila and Grand Marnier. Not perfect for this time of year, but it was very good. It will be a perfect holiday treat! The spiced apple was the same but with varying degrees of alcohol and chilled. It was yummy! Margaret wrote down the Mulled Margarita recipe to share with her family at Christmas time!

I have now had EIGHTY-FIVE Margaritas!!! Only 14 more to go to my 99 mark!

Is it Labor Day yet???

Alright, I'm done with the expense and the weight gain. I don't want anymore margaritas for a while. However, I've got 16 left! I knocked another one out of the way tonight. It was the Hazelnut Margarita. Tommy Boy and I shared some over the backyard fire after a long Monday at work.

He made a very funny face and didn't like it, and I said it wasn't bad. I finished it, that's all I will say!

16 more to go!

Broseph!

Let me set the scene. 4 ladies. A porch. Cocktails and a perfect breeze. All the ladies left, and I open my laptop and began typing! It's now 12:30am

The upcoming hangover tells me that the Avocado-Cilantro Margarita was a good margarita. I though it would be disgusting drink, but it was surprising and amazing. The recipe said it will be good with some guac and chips, so we did what we were told. It was actually really good. I would recommend it AND make it again. 3 out of 4 of us liked this one. I'll post the recipe and pictures later.

After that, a group of my friends and I had the Blonde Margariatta. It's only a little difficult to type out our expressions to you right now. Both were good margaritas but very different flavors. Maybe it was the Colorado Bulldogs that turned me into trouble tonight, or maybe it was the two, yes, two, Key Lime Martini!

Since I feel my spelling is worsening, I believe it's time to call it a night!

2 down tonight... 17 left to go and have 23 or so days.

Bustin' my Ass all the way to 80!

Drink number 1 tonight is the Prickly Pear Margarita. I found prickly pear juice at a place called Fresh and Natural. It was not easy to find. I don't love pears or pear juice, so it's not my favorite by a long shot, but it's got tequila, so it'll do! It's Friday and it'll work.

As much as it pains me to say it, I'll only be doing 99 margaritas. I have had no luck getting a kumquat or a cherimoya. I don't fail at things often, but I figure that since it's a goal related to DRINKING, I shouldn't be too heartbroken.

Drink number 2 tonight is the Frosty Nectarine Margarita. It's a blended one with fresh nectarine and peach sorbet. NOT GOOD!!!! The nectarines were perfectly fresh and delicious by themselves, but nah... this one was not for me.

I think maybe I should have had a drink number 3 tonight. I need to wash the taste out my mouth.

19 more to go (out of 99)

The Bloody Margarita

No, I am not turning British on you folks. The margarita I had tonight was a Bloody Margarita with Bloody Mary Mix, tequila and lime juice. That's it. As a person who HATES Bloody Marys, I was pretty sure that I wasn't going to like the taste even adding tequila. I was highly correct in that assumption! The first thought I had was, "It tastes like I'm eating liquid ketchup!"

My friend Gwyn agreed, "I give it a big two thumbs down!"

Sorry Bloody Mary lovers... I just can't do it! Everyone in my family LOVES bloodys. Just one more reason that I may be the mailman's kid.

Cheers until tomorrow. 23 more to go!

My lips are on fire!!

I'm keeping on track this week, so that I can actually make my goal on time. It's only Monday, so all is well. I've got 24 margaritas left after tonight. 2 of which I'm not sure that I will even be able to make... :( due to lack of getting a kumquat and a cherimoya?!

Holy Crap!! I made the Hot Chile Margarita tonight. It's a simple recipe with tequila, triple sec, lemon/lime juices, simple syrup, AND the secret ingredient is Tabasco. They are all common household ingredients, however, they make a very interesting margarita. At first, it tastes like any other margarita. Then, about 4 or 5 seconds later, it hits your lip and you start to wonder. I put the secret ingredient away and asked everyone in the house to taste it, and asked them what they tasted. It wasn't until my father tried it; he guessed it right away. If you like a spicy things and an interesting drink, you'll love this margarita. Let me know if you'd like me to come over and make one with you.

Cheers until tomorrow.

24 more margs in 28 days (just in case you were counting!)

Wine? Or Margarita? How about both??

On this beautiful Sunday afternoon, several of us tried the White Zinfandel Margarita. It was delicious. According to Kim Hassarud, "a sweeter wine than Sauvignnon Blanc, makes a pretty pink margarita. This is a refreshing summer cocktail." That it was!

Although my mother is NOT thrilled about my drinking blog, she enjoyed this margarita with me. We were all together celebrating my nephew, Everett's, 4th birthday. What a way to celebrate a 4-year-old's birthday than to clink our classes just for him. Everyone who took a sip thought it was a very refreshing taste. A few people even asked for the recipe!

Cheers until tomorrow, when I taste number 76!!

Margatini? Yes Please!

Margatinis are very good. Just letting you know! My buddy, Keith, and I decided to stay in for a night and have a margarita. We used Patron and made a very delicious margarita. Was it strong?? Well, it did end up playing Just Dance on the Wii which led into Wii bowling.

The mustaches were a gift from my friends, Jackie and Max. They have been amongst my drinking paraphernalia for a long time and they were itching to get used. Keith and I enjoyed the mustaches just at much as our evening!

Cheers until tomorrow.

Hell Yeah!

Evening of Sophistication

Ahhh... The Sauvignon Margarita and Sparkling Margarita were pretty good to end a crazy week. Both of these recipes were very light and crisp. Either recipe could be used for a bridal shower or some sort of day-time gathering (if you are one of those people who can't drink before 5pm). It's a simple margarita with champagne or white wine added. Unfortunately, I did have to enjoy them alone, although I was in a room full of people. Most were underage and some were sober. I am really starting to see why some people are sober in this world! YIKES!! LOL!

Box-O-Booze

After a long fricken' day at work, and softball, and errands, I came home to a crazy ordeal and a very large box with my name on it! Who doesn't like I get mail?! The author of 101 Margaritas, Kim Haasarud, sent me a package of ingredients shall we call them!

While I open my box and remove the contents, I enjoyed the Marga Raider! It's a play of a Red Bull and Vodka. Hmmmmm... Maybe it's not the best idea to have a redbull drink on a Thursday night at 10pm, but oh well! Meh, I'll be alright. I generally make it a rule never to drink Red Bull. It was a pretty decent cocktail though.

29 Margaritas left. 32 days left. Can we say "cutting it close?"

Suggesting Sobriety

Looking back at some of the margaritas I've had and the people I've spent time drinking with, I wonder if I really should suggest sobriety for myself! You see, there are some people in this world who CANNOT handle their alcohol. I however, can, and do just that! I can have a margarita or two after a day at work, and some people just don't see that as normal. It is a perfectly fine thing to do!

Today's margarita was the Grape Margarita. It was grape but it wasn't great! There wasn't a ton of added flavor, but that could have been lack of flavor due to the fruit that I had too. Onto the next marg. So, I'm typing and examining my drinking schedule. I realized that I have created 71 margarita recipes so far this summer. I have 30 more to go, AND ONLY 36 DAYS TO DO IT! And I still haven't found a kumquat (quite yet) or a cherimoya. This challenge may be more challenging that I thought living in Minnesota!

Cheers!
